The Serving Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has said that terror will increase globally in 2016.

He made the proclamation in Lagos, western Nigeria, during the Cross-Over church service to usher in the new year.

The first baby of the year at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital in Gwagwalada, FCT, was born at 1:55 a.m. on Friday, the hospital’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Frank Omagbo, confirmed.
Omagbo said five other babies were born after the first delivery.
The first baby of the year, a male, was born into the family of Mr and Mrs Francis Elue of Niger and weighed 3.9 kilogrammes.
The baby was born through normal delivery and was the first child of the family after nine years of marriage.
The family thanked God for blessing them with the gift of a child at the beginning of the new year.

2016 Budget: FG to spend N4.1bn on cars

Lagos— Further details emerging from the recently presented 2016 budget have shown that the executive arm of the government would spend the lion share of N5.87 trillion, or about 96.5 per cent of the total N6.1 trillion about N205 billion or 3.5 per cent to the other arms of government, with the Legislature and the Judiciary, spending N115 billion and N90 billion respectively.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, made this disclosure to journalists at the Port Harcourt Refining Company, Rivers State, after inspecting the plant.

Asked when the Federal Government would release the new petrol price template prepared by the Petroleum Product Pricing Regulation Agency, Kachikwu said that he approved the new price for the agency on Thursday.

Pandemonium in Badagry over iman’s alleged bid to use lover for money ritual

LAGOS—Mowo 11, a suburb of Olorunda Local Council Development Area of Badagry area in Lagos State, was yesterday thrown into pandemonium, as an Islamic cleric, Mallam Shehu, popularly referred to as Alhaji Sambo, attempted to use his 20-year-old lover, Busayo Amdalat, for money ritual.
The victim, who resides in Ibeju-Lekki, was said to have visited the cleric at Mowo Phase 2 in Badagry to spend the Christmas holidays.

It was gathered that in the early hours of yesterday, the cleric had a visitor known as Ifa and they asked the victim to put on a white cloth and when she did, the cleric and his accomplice hit Busayo with an iron rod on her head.

It was gathered that when Sambo’s accomplice, Ifa was slashing the victim’s throat, she was able to muster courage by hitting Ifa on the head with a bottle and in the process ran to a nearby street where a carnival was taking place.
Rushed to hospital
Some residents, who saw her drenched in a pool of blood with injuries inflicted on her neck and other parts of her body, quickly rushed her to an undisclosed hospital in the area.

Shuo! Suspected robber misses way after operation, arrested

The police in Lagos have arrested a suspected robber, Saliu John, on the Old Apapa Road, Oyingbo, after allegedly dispossessing some market women of about N28,000.

Our correspondent gathered that John, who was said to have come to the area with two others, was nabbed by members of a vigilance group after he reportedly missed his way after the operation.

   


It was learnt that John and other accomplices had suddenly become separated, forcing the suspect to hide behind a tanker parked on the road. It was learnt that some local security men later sighted him there.

We learnt that John, who was arrested at about 9pm on Monday, was questioned by the security men and he told them that he had come to do business in the area from Ijora, after which he missed his way.

When the suspect was, however, searched, the vigilance group members were said to have found different purses containing money, arousing the suspicion of the security men that John allegedly attacked some market women.
