live score and goal updates from Villa Park
For those of you who love stats and football, this somewhat illustrates the Chelsea dominance today.
As well as the pathetic nature of Villa’s performance.
Glenn Hoddle compared Loftus-Cheek to Michael Ballack during his BT commentary.
A fine performance from the Chelsea academy graduate.
Hiddink has guaranteed the youngsters more game time in the coming weeks, this could be the making of Loftus-Cheek.
He won and then dispatched the penalty beautifully.
Then The Duck led a stunning move at the start of the second half, feeding Oscar, who teed up Pedro for his first of the afternoon.
The Brazilian’s shot was then parried into the path of Pedro for number four and the third goal he was directly involved in.
Some debut!
More from Hiddink, he says: “I like to bring in youngsters, we have the rest of the season. It’s important they feel the Premier League demands.
“It’s not that important for me [to be unbeaten], and with bringing young kids the risk of failure is a little higher.
“If we play as we did today, pressing high and creating chances, then automatically you get results and could play for Europe.”
Guus Hiddink has been speaking after Chelsea’s victory, he reveals John Terry has a slight achilles problem and that Gary Cahill came back injured from international duty with England.
The Chelsea manager was also delighted to see the youngsters player.
He said: “It’s good to see guys like Loftus-Cheek, Clarke-Salter and Miazga coming in. We cannot win anything so it’s a little easier.”
5) Proud history, what future?
The club’s slogan of ‘Proud History, Bright Future’ was re-written and displayed on placards by angry home fans who asked: ‘Proud History, What Future’?
Some also held up a banner saying: ‘No fight, no pride, no effort , no hope’.
While fans chanted: “You are not fit to the wear” and many left early in the 74 minute in a coordinated protest at owner Randy Lerner’s reign.
4) Leandro Bacuna is a joke figure
You know you are not popular with home fans when you are booed on to the pitch like Dutch utility player Bacuna in the second half when he came on as sub.
He recently said he hoped to play in the Champions League within two years’ time as he contemplates a move back to Holland.
But Villa fans made their feelings known chanting: “Champions League, you are having a laugh.”
3) Jordan Ayew nearly breaks the goal
Not with a shot obviously, as the Ghana international has not scored for bottom club Villa in 2016 but after being denied by Thibaut Courtois he angrily kicked out at the goalframe and made it rattle.
2) Mikel has got skills
Chelsea’s holding midfielder John Obi Mikel rarely gets credited with possessing sublime skills but the grafter showed his subtle side too with silky tricks to bamboozle his way past Idrissa Gana and Micah Richards in the move which led to the visitors’ opener.
1) Pato finally plays and scores
His introduction sparked ironic cheers from the away fans who chanted: “We forgot that you were here” 64 days and seven minutes since he joined in January.
But he made his mark from the spot after stepping up ahead of Pedro following his first half introduction as a substitute for the injured Loic Remy.
Check out four more things we learned here.
Hiddink has ultimately drawn far too many games in this spell in charge.
However, he can still salvage a legacy from this season by laying the seeds for the future.
No excuses now to not play Loftus-Cheek each week, as well as give Miazga and even Clarke-Salter increased minutes.
There are seven games left and they can be highly useful for the young players, perhaps the academy might just start producing some first team players.
Aston Villa 0-4 Chelsea: Alexandre Pato scores on debut as Blues run riot - 5 things we learned
Alexandre Pato made his belated Chelsea debut and scored in this romp as doomedAston Villa’s new board grasped the size of the job ahead.
Last term’s champions thrashed sorry Villa with goals from Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Pato and a second half brace from Pedro.
Homegrown youngster Loftus-Cheek opened the scoring with a low finish from Cesar Azpilicueta’s low cross in the 26th minute.
Sub Pato, introduced early on for the crocked Loic Remy, scored from the spot just before the break after Aly Cissokho bundled him over.
Moments into the second half it was 3-0 to the visitors and game over when Pedro converted Oscar’s pass following a slick move.
Pedro netted his second in the 59th minute from a tight angle after Brad Guzan failed to hold Pato’s shot from the edge of the area.
It went from bad to worse for the hosts when Hutton being shown a straight red for a foul on Loftus-Cheek late on.
It made grim viewing for Villa’s new footballing board sat in the stands of Brian Little, Adrian Bevington and David Bernstein.
Villa 12 points from safety with an 18-goal deficit in goal difference to Norwich.
If results go against them, next week their fate will be confirmed.
Chelsea up to ninth, above Liverpool on goal difference and three points from Southampton - who should secure Europa League football with a seventh place finish.
It was a convincing and comprehensive display by the champions, who in all truth never had to step up into a higher gear in order to cruise to victory today, with Loftus-Cheek, Pato and Pedro grabbing the goals. Villa were truly awful, and seem to have already accepted their predicament of being relegated to the Championship - and there may well be a real threat that they could get stranded in the second division - or potentially drop down even further, if serious changes are not made to this squad.
Well, that’s all we’ve got time for this afternoon. Until next time, thank you and good bye!
FT: Aston Villa 0-4 Chelsea
From those who stayed, boos ring around Villa Park.
Relegation now potentially a week away now.
Lescott on the verge of tears, “you’re not fit to where the shirt” rings around the stadium.
FULL TIME! That’s all from Villa Park this afternoon, where it as finished Aston Villa 0-4 Chelsea! The hosts’ were terrible today, in front of a sparsely populated and dejected Villa Park, and the club could now be relegated as early as next weekend.
Villa now face a demoralising couple of weeks to see out this season with some dignity.
It’s going to be agony for the Villa fans.
We’re into stoppage time now and BT announce that Pedro is the man of the match.
He’s been bright lately and perhaps showing signs he will fully adapt to English football.
It’s been a successful day for the Blues with debuts for Pato, Miazga and Clarke-Salter, as well as a first Premier League goal for Loftus-Cheek.
There will be a minimum of three minutes of stoppage time at the end of this game, the fourth official has indicated.
Ayew still showing life, he outmuscles Clarke-Salter and stands it up for Grealish.
The Villa youngster’s volley is dragged wide, but that was better from the home side.
Villa fans surely just looking for some sign of the players having some respect for the shirt now.
Another yellow card now for Villa, as Ashley Westwood goes into the book for a late tackle on Oscar.
It was late and quite reckless on Loftus-Cheek and the referee had next to no option but to brandish the second yellow.
The Villa fans applaud Hutton off as he walks towards the tunnel.
It doesn’t feel like it can get any worse for Villa now.
Well, Villa’s luck can indeed get worse, as Alan Hutton picks up a second yellow card for a late lunge on Loftus-Cheek, and duly makes his way down the tunnel.
For those of the Villa fans left, instead of a mass walk-out, they’ve decided to see this out.
If not to boo the team at the final whistle, then to pepper the pitch with paper aeroplanes.
Meanwhile Baba is inches from a fifth and Hutton has picked up a second yellow and just about compounds Villa’s misery.
How bad can Villa's luck get? Cissokho does well to drive down the left and drill a low cross towards the near post. Azpilicueta clearly deflects the ball out of play, but the official deems that it should be a goal kick for the visitors.
Another substitution now for the hosts, as Gueye is replaced by Jordan Lyden.
Hutton in the book for a cynical trip on Pato.
Ivanovic takes the ensuing free-kick from all of 30 yards and dribbles it along the deck.
Still, Hiddink won’t be too upset, the Blues look like they’re lining up with a 3-5-2 now that Clarke-Salter is on.
