A court heard that Luke Kendrick's "shockingly poor childhood" and "complex" life may be behind his involvement in the brutal murder of Vinny Waddington
Luxury cars, flash motorbikes and lavish holidays - a quick glance at murderer Luke Kendrick's Facebook page and he appears to have it all.But this hasn't stopped his barristers, defending him in court, from claiming that he suffered a "complex" life alongside a "shockingly poor childhood".
Luke Kendrick was convicted by a jury at Liverpool Crown Court after denying the murder of Vinny Waddington, who was knocked off a scrambler motorbike and shot in Banks Road on July 14 last year.
The victim was 18 years old at the time.
In court it was claimed that his "poor" upbringing may have been an influence in his involvement in the brutal murder of Vinny.
Kendrick boasted of the holidays in Mexico and Spain on the social network.
Amid a catalogue of abusive messages and poor spelling, pool-side pics and dance festival snaps suggest Kendrick did not exactly go without.
As far back as 2012 he was posting pictures of deck chairs and scantily-clad holidaymakers lying by a pool under blue skies in sunny “Ibazi” (Ibiza).
That September trip, followed by a jaunt to Amsterdam, was apparently his “sickest holiday”.
Yet just three months later Kendrick - who had 25 previous convictions for 44 offences - was showing off from inside a plane as he flew out to Mexico for the new year, the Liverpool Echo reports.
New Year’s Eve 2012 even saw him post a picture of police in the Central American country under the words “Heavy the mexican plod walk arnd packin AK47s, M16s an sick sub machine guns”.
Three-and-a-half years later Kendrick, formerly of Wharfedale Street in Garston, would be found guilty of a gun murder by a unanimous verdict of the jury at Liverpool Crown Court.
Topless holiday photos were followed by foodie snaps of the “heaviest desserts” - along with him donning a specialist falconry glove and handling a bird of prey.
He also partied at dance festival Creamfields with his mates.
In 2014 it was a ski mask he appeared to be donning as he straddled a scrambler bike.
This was after posts that included “Tag box rapped in a towel in back garden they can keep...hahaha d*** eds” - a possible reference to an electronic curfew tag.
Two of his most recent posts “home at last” and “final out that dark dirty hole. Feels good (sic)” were both made on June 30 last year.
Those messages are almost certainly a reference to one of the unstable and aggressive 26-year-old’s prison stints.
Yet despite the brutal thug’s dislike for life behind bars Vinny’s death came just two weeks later - paving the way for Kendrick to spend at least the next 25 years back in jail.
