Big name to be sacrificed as Arsenal ‘agree’ personal terms with Chelsea striker

Reports claim Arsenal will agree to Tammy Abraham’s personal terms and are ready to sell an experienced striker to fund a move for the Chelsea man.

The 23-year-old appears surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge after slipping down the pecking order. He looked set for a stellar Blues career after his breakthrough season of 2019-2020. The Londoner bagged 18 goals from

47 appearances in all competitions.

Capped six times by England, it seemed as though he had the footballing world at his feet. However, Thomas Tuchel’s arrival in west London has changed all that.

He was marginalised by the German tactician and played just 17 minutes of football under the former Paris Saint-Germain coach. There is nothing to suggest anything will be different in the upcoming campaign and a move away looks on the cards.

A number of clubs have been linked, with Aston Villa and West Ham known admirers. It emerged earlier this month that the Hammers were at the front of the queue for his signature.

But now the Gunners have appeared on the scene and are keen to acquire his services. Abraham is said to earn around £80,000 a week at Chelsea but is asking for £125,000 from the north Londoners.

And the Emirates outfit are willing to pay that amount, according to The Express. There is still confusion about his price tag.

It was initially thought Chelsea wanted £40m for the former Swansea City loan man. But it has also been stated they are willing to accept £30m in order to get him off their books.

Arsenal seem determined to land Abraham as they look to lower the age of their strikers. He seems to have been around for a while but the man from Camberwell’s best years are still ahead of him.

And rumours are doing the rounds that the Gunners are willing to sell Alexandre Lacazette to fund the deal. But they are struggling to find any suitors who are willing to match his current salary.

The former Lyon ace is entering the final 12 months of his contract. And Mikel Arteta will not want to risk losing him for nothing next summer.

Therefore it is essential to find a buyer in the next few weeks to facilitate the capture of Abraham. The other option is to stick with what they have got and offer Lacazette a new deal.

But it is change and a new mindset that the fans crave.
